Last fall, “Shine and Dine” was just an idea being proposed for our spring event. Sarah Holland and Kate Gay enthusiastically spoke of their vision to host an event all about food. Their vision entailed having local chefs serve their specialties while sharing cooking tips and recipes in conjunction with a silent and a live auction to further engage attendees between bites of deliciousness. Initially, the tasks of organizing a new event seemed too large, but after months of hard work, the vision became a reality.
On April 12th, 2014, we hosted our first annual Shine and Dine event at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. Thanks to the community’s compassion for Easter Seals of Western Kentucky, 145 items were kindly donated for the auctions and 15 local food enthusiasts graciously donated food, time and their expertise. Additionally, over 600 people attended Shine and Dine, making it our largest fundraiser to date!
We are extremely grateful for the overwhelming outcome and owe a big thanks to those who supported us in our mission of raising funds for Easter Seals! Proudly, we announce that on August 21st, 2014, the Charity League donated $49,000 from funds raised solely through Shine and Dine!! Bringing our total 2013-2014 contributions to an all time high of $71,700. Congrats on this amazing accomplishment!
